New week, new adventures

I was soooo glad to be off this past weekend after working 6 out of 7 nights straight, which I do every single six weeks, but it never gets easier. So when I was finally free to spend time with the family, of course Chris had plans to be gone all weekend! I have to give him credit though-he worked his tail off, first with a mission project at church called the Big Give (Chris' crew built a wheelchair ramp, among other things). And on top of that he helped out with his sister's refinished floors. This doesn't even count the roof he helped lay a few weeks ago, landscaping our back yard, catching cats at his grandmother's house(sounds funny I know)...and more projects are on the way for him too including a couple plumbing jobs coming up, working on his parents house, and probably helping with our best friend's nursery!! I have to say I am married to the most giving person I know, but I have no idea how he keeps going! Luckily we do see him in between all his giving;)

So referring back to Chris catching cats at his grandmother's house....apparently her subdivision is overrun with stray cats, so Chris has spent several evenings now trying to catch them. Somehow though one little kitty ended up coming home with him (biggest heart I know too!). But being the realist that I am we decided that a new pet is definitely NOT in our future, so me and Amelia took the kitty to the Humane Society. A few tears were shed by Amelia when we left it, saying "my kitty", but I really didn't feel that bad after the lady said it would have to be bottle fed every 4 hours for weeks-that's coming soon enough for us don't you think?!?!

This is Amelia and Phoebe meeting the kitty

On another note: tonight at dinner I decided to give Amelia a big girl cup to start practicing. She was so excited and did pretty well with it, only with a couple expected spills. So Amelia's cup-drinking session went as follows:

1) Be very proud to be drinking out of this cool cup...

2) get overly excited and spill some...

3) giggle as Daddy wipes it up;)

I was off work all last week so we took full advantage of the beautiful weather! We started last weekend with an impromptu trip to KY for a long overdue visit with my family! Chris had to work all weekend so it was just us girls! Amelia was great on the 2 hour drive down-talking the whole time! Once we got there we just played all day at my Nana and Grandaddy's house, and my dad and brother came too! Amelia loved feeding Great-Grandaddy's fish! That night we went out to eat and these two tired girls headed home!

Feeding the fish;)
splashing in the water with Grandad's help
getting in a little reading time with Grandad;)
It's so good to be able to spend time with my family since we don't see each other very much! We're already looking forward to another trip in a few weeks when we can hopefully see even more of the family!
The rest of the week was just as busy filled with activities! Tuesday we went to the zoo with our good friends the Walker's. When I was getting ready that morning I walked in Amelia's room to find her reading a story to the Easter Bunny instead of trying to get her shoes on;)

...but we did finally make it to the zoo and the girls had a great time! Here's Amelia taking a snack break with friends Kailey and Lyla (little Alden's in mommy's arms;). After the zoo we had lunch at McDonald's and played even more!
Wednesday Amelia got to go to storytime and then lunch and playing at the park, then Thursday we visited with cousins Alli and Brooke and helped Aunt Holly with last minute yard sale planning (where Amelia just wanted to take everything back home), and Friday we went to the yard sale for a bit;) It was so nice to have the week together!

Happy Easter!

We had a great Easter this year! Amelia was old enough this year to really have fun with all of the Easter traditions! Here's a few pics of our Easter:

I took Amelia to an early Easter Egg Hunt with her Aunt Kelly and some of her friends;
Then had another egg hunt after church on Palm Sunday;

the night before Easter Daddy helped Amelia die some eggs;

Easter morning she helped Mommy make Easter cookies;

Easter dinner at Mamaw and Papaw's house;

hunting eggs with a little help from Mamaw;

Happy Easter!
